Tumbleweed is an above-ground structure of several plant species of different origins and order. It is a diaspore that, once mature and dry, detaches from the root or stem and rolls with the force of the wind to find a home in a new and unfamiliar place. There are people among us who live their lives as Tumbleweeds... some of them you may find in the circus.
The summer edition of Tumbleweeds combines a performative walk with treasure hunt games. It's perfect for those who enjoy plays devised for theatre and circus but also for those who love playing in general.
You will be put in the shoes of experimental botanists whose main task is to explore the circus-plant phenomenon of Tumbleweed. In the nooks and crannies of Letná city park, these plants locally known to us as “stepní běžci” [steppe runners] will temporarily take up residence and bloom. Your task will be to find them all, observe their specific habitation strategies and based on your findings, design the most ideal garden for cultivation and further research.
At the beginning you will be given a map and a layout of the garden. From the starting point that will be marked on the map you will use signs and information from the nature trail to discover other locations. The route is partially open, you will always have two options which way to go next or return if necessary. When new locations stop appearing on the trail, you have found all the runners. Complete the design of your garden and proceed to the final point marked on the map.
